STEVE KENNA
Steve is an award winning artist, Academician of the South West Academy of Fine Art (SWAc), an Associate Member of the Society of Graphic Fine Art (SGFA - The Drawing Society) and owner of Whinfield Gallery
Following a career in architectural design and graphic art Steve is currently established as a professional artist and tutor who, over the last two decades, has pursued his exploration and practice of painting in oils, acrylics, and watercolour.
Steve also embraces print-making techniques of copper etching, innovative polymer gravure etching, dynamic monotype printing and gold Leaf/ gilding in his work. These mediums all bring to the surface his principal strength in draftsmanship and unique and varied mark making.

October 2025 - Group exhibition at Whinfield Gallery, Salcombe
September 2025 - ‘Unsettled Moorland’ painting exhibited at the Society of Fine and Applied Arts (SWAc) exhibition “Dartmoor New Horizons” in the beautiful Neadon Barn nr Manaton in the heart of the Dartmoor National Park.
July 2025 - Exhibited work at the Royal Watercolor Society Gallery in London, as part of the South West Academy 25th Anniversary Exhibition “Light In The West”
May to September 2025 - Exhibited work at the Salcombe Art Club Summer Exhibition at the beautiful Loft Gallery by Victoria Quay in the heart of Salcombe.
May 2025 - Steve together with a group of established artists exhibited at the formal opening of his Whinfield Gallery, Salcombe
March 2025 - Selected to exhibit two paintings at The Drawing Society’s 104th Open Exhibition at Mall Galleries, London
October to December 2024 – Painting commissioned by the Royal National Lifeboat Institute at Salcombe to be part of the RNLI extensive Bi-centenary celebrations.
September 2024 – Selected to exhibit work at the Royal West of England Academy (RWA)in their prestigious 171st Open Exhibition, Queens Road in the heart of Bristol.
September to November 2024 – ‘The New Group’ Autumn Exhibition at the Whinfield Gallery, Salcombe
July 2024 – Invited to exhibit a painting - transformed to a billboard - in London Underground Pimlico Station as part of the ‘Art Below’ project
July 2024 – Exhibited works at the Adlib Gallery Summer Exhibition in Wimbledon Village, London.
May to September 2024 – Exhibited work at the Salcombe Art Club Summer Exhibition at the beautiful Loft Gallery by Victoria Quay in the heart of Salcombe.
March 2024 - Selected to exhibit work at Society of Graphic and Fine Art’s 103rd Open exhibition, Mall Galleries, London – Collected ‘Best in Colour’ award from the Royal Drawing Society for painting ‘Open deck Trawler’.
February 2024 – Solo Exhibition of original acrylic and watercolor paintings, Works in gold- leaf, copper plate and polymer-gravure etching at the Whinfield Gallery, Herbert Road Salcombe
November 2023 – Selected to exhibit work at the South West Academy of Fine and Applied Arts (SWAc) 103rd annual Open Exhibition.
AWARDS
May 2025 - Steve was invited to present work to the Society of Graphic Fine Art - The Drawing Society and was subsequently offered an Associate Membership
March 2024 - Steve received the prestigious 'Best in Colour Award' selected by the Royal Drawing School for a painting exhibited at the 103rd Open Exhibition of the Society of Graphic Fine Arts in the Mall Galleries in London.
January 2024 - Steve was selected to be an Academician of the South West Academy of Fine and Applied Arts (SWAc).
